Dawn commercial

This is the coolest commercial. I don't watch many commercials due to the DVR, but when I was fast-forwarding the other day, as usual, these little critters caught my attention and I had to watch. The otter holding onto the bin is my favorite part!

Breaks my heart and really makes me regret not following my interest to become a marine biologist. I want to help.

Musical 2009

So this must be my musical year. I couldn't be more excited. This year, 2009, I am able to see every one of my favorite bands! Almost all of them - how cool is that? Very cool I'd say.

I entered a contest with Filter For Good to win Warped Tour 2009 tickets for taking a pledge to reduce plastic bottle waste and reuse my Nalgene bottle instead. No problem, since I do that anyway. I WON!! So on August 15th, I'm going to the Gorge in George, Washington to see Bad Religion, & NOFX...

In September, I am attending Bumbershoot where I'll see Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand. Also attending a Flogging Molly show a few weeks later.

So yeah, that's pretty cool.

Now if only Millencolin would come back to the states and actually hit the NW, my year would be complete.

Perfume

For the last month I have been totally obsessed with aquiring a new fragrance. My trusty fragrance is down to it's last few drops. I love my "signature scent," I will buy this fragrance again. But the ADD part of me wants to be free from the strings of my longtime scent and wants to play the field a bit. I want a scent personality overhaul, so to speak.

In my quest for that perfect scent, the scent to capture all the facets of my personality and mood just so, I was reminded of a movie I caught a few years back. The movie was Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Based on the novel Perfume by Patrick Süskind, the movie was directed by Tom Tykwer, a name that might sound familiar to all those who caught the indie film Run, Lola, Run back in 1989. Set in 18th century France, the film tells the story of an olfactory genius and his homicidal quest for the perfect scent.

The scenery of the movie is quite stunning, so vivid you can almost smell it. A lot of the scenes I wouldn't personally WANT to smell, but you get my point. While I couldn't relate to the protagonist of this film, I do identify with his quest for the perfect scent.

But I'm not the only one who was interested in the perfumes created in this movie. The perfume house of Thierry Mugler created a collection of perfume inspired by the movie. The Limited Edition Thierry Mugler "Perfume" Collection Coffret presents 15 essences that capture and bring to life key moments and atmospheres from the book and film. I can't afford the hefty price tag of $700, besides the fact that this was a limited edition and is now no longer available.

I think it would be cool, however, to somehow gather vials of all 15 scents, and then watch the movie. It would be like 3D, except it wouldn't be visual effects, but rather olfactory enhancements instead.

What is interesting to you?

I started out on this blog journey meaning to post on a regular basis. Turns out this pouring out of every thought in my head is both daunting and quite boring for anyone else to read. Do you really care what nonsense is rattling around up there? Sometimes my thoughts annoy even myself, why would someone else think it's interesting? I know that people, for the most part, are interested in other people. Anyone who's gone to the grocery store and had to wait in line knows that magazines about other people are interesting, and obviously they sell. So maybe the basis of curiosity alone is the compelling factor. Then again, maybe not.

What, exactly, is interesting to you? I've seemed to lose my focus...

I've come to realize the loss of my pet a few months ago has affected me far more than I could ever have known. She was an english bulldog named Luna. I always knew I'd be sad when the inevitable day came that I lost her. But I didn't know I would be depressed. I didn't know that even months later, just the thought of her would still bring a tightness to my chest and tears to my eyes. I realize I'm mourning her.

Owning a bulldog didn't define the person I am. But she sure added to my day to day contentment and attitude. So until I figure out something interesting to say, something to add to the electronic flood of information and newsworthy gossip, I'm taking a little hiatus.

Until the right moment strikes. Or bites.

Perfect chance to taste beer I've been curious about, but didn't want to fully commit to.

nido = nest

So I'm totally in love with MINI Coopers. Everyone who knows me knows that. But look what I found here. It's called a Nido, which means "nest" in Italian. It's a concept car from Pininfarina, the Italian masterminds behind such beautiful cars as the Ferrari 330 GTC, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, and the Alfa Romeo Spider.

I'm not really a car person. But I appreciate beauty when I see it. And I appreciate cute when I see it. And this is definately cute.

happy earth day!!

So Earth Day is upon us once again. While I appreciate the attention given to our planet on this day, I can't help but feel cynical about the fact that attention of this sort should be given to our Earth daily. Make it a part of your life. I'm not going to preach or get on my soapbox proclaiming the values of recycling (though there ARE values), I am going to ask that everyone make it a goal to do at least one thing daily that improves our lives here and the lives of those around us.

On that note, here are a few cute photos I found that bring this Earth Day to mind.

a little taste of paradise...

My husband and I took a little jaunt down to Maui a few months back. Maui is wonderful, isn't it? This wasn't our first trip down, and definately won't be the last. Can't wait until next time.

Here are just a few pics, I'll get more up later.
